Episode 122 Why I Quite Listening to Hillsong Music

Why I Quit Listening to Hillsong Music

Fight Breaks Out After a Hillsong Worship Service

A security guard for Hillsong Church is in stable condition at a local hospital after suffering bleeding on the brain. An assailant hit the guard in the head while the guard tried to prevent a group of churchgoers from being attacked. An Australian media outlet 9News reports that a group of men were standing outside the church heading to Redfern Station when an argument suddenly broke out with another group of men. Police say the church's 33-year-old security guard stepped in to break up the fight after he saw an 18-year-old man being struck in the face. An assailant then attacked and punched in him head, which left him unconscious. How could something like this happen outside of a church service, and for that matter outside of Hillsong Church, the group that is responsible for creating much of the music that we listen to in the contemporary Christian world?

What You Will Learn:

  • In this episode, Troy explores the reasons why he quit listening to Hillsong
  • Troy revealed the problems with Hillsong Church, as well as the purpose of and the preaching behind their music

Episode 121 Snoop Shoots Pres. Trump

Snoop Shoots President Trump in His Latest Music Video (Part Two)

Can Anger Really Be Redeemed?

Double Edge Music Podcast Host: Troy Isaacs

In the last episode, Troy looked into Snoop's latest music video in which Snoop shot a clown called "Ronald Clump", clearly a representation of President Trump.  This isn't the first time Snoop has fired off a President Trump, but it's the first time he's gone so far as to pretend assassination. Snoop recently criticized other music artists for just releasing “party music” and not dealing with real issues like “this (expletive) clown president.” Does Snoop have a legitimate reason for being angry? If so, is that how he should express his anger? In the Scriptures, Troy looked at two forms of anger: righteous anger and reckless anger. Now in this final episode, Troy explores "redeemed anger".

 What You Will Learn:

  • In this episode, you will hear Scriptural examples of redeemed anger
  • How can anger be redeemed? What does a Christian need to do to redeem their anger?

Episode 118: Should Vickie Yohe Apologize

Should Vicki Yohe Apologize To The Church Or Should We Apologize to Her?

How Yohe responded to the massive backlash against her

Double Edge Music Podcast Host: Troy Isaacs

On Saturday, Yohe expressed her support for U.S. President Donald J. Trump by posting a photo on Instagram showing a man dressed as Jesus carrying suitcases. The post, which has since been taken down, also bears the words, "On my way back to the White House," and was the gospel singer's response to the Women's March, The Christian Post details.  "March all you want, protest all you want, President DONALD J. TRUMP is our President for at least 4 years, no weapon formed against him will prosper!" said Yohe in her Instagram post. "You know you are doing something right when there is so much opposition!!! #excitingtimes," Yohe added.
The post apparently was not received well by her followers because many expressed their disapproval of the captions she put in it. One netizen slammed her for supporting someone "who lies, curses, and incites violence." Another netizen said Yohe just lost one supporter because of her pro-Trump post. Someone also vowed not to attend, buy, or patronize anything that the singer makes. Activist Shaun King posted an open letter on Facebook and called Yohe "disgusting." King, who said he was a pastor for 15 years, said he was baffled with the singer's implication that Jesus Christ was not in the White House during the term of former President Barack Obama, Raw Story relays.
In response to the massive backlash against her, Yohe deactivated most of her social media accounts. The gospel singer said there were many churches that have canceled their scheduled events with her. Others have called her a racist and even threatened her. Yohe also posted a statement on Facebook, apologizing to the people who may have been offended by the Instagram photo. The singer said she is excited at the prospect that the new administration will protect Christianity instead of attack it, but maintained that she does not condone any of Trump's wrongdoings.

Double Edge Music Podcast Host: Troy Isaacs

Episode 116 Justin Bieber Soul Winner?

Why Are Justin Bieber And Fantasia Seeking To Win People To Christ?

Why you should encourage others to put Christ before everything else

Double Edge Music Podcast Host: Troy Isaacs

According to The Sun newspaper, sources are claiming that Justin Bieber, the famed 22-year-old singer, has been sharing his Christian faith with the opening acts who've been performing on his Purpose tour. "Backstage on his Purpose tour, Justin has been sitting down with his opening acts and encouraging them to put Christ before everything. His aim is to convert the people he loves and warn other stars against the evils of the industry," the source reportedly told the London tabloid.
Popular R&B singer Fantasia Barrino has sparked a contentious debate online after she reportedly turned one of her recent concerts in Florida into a soul-stirring worship service while wearing a skimpy costume some have frowned upon as a mere "bathing suit." Several videos posted on Facebook show the singer delivering a soul-stirring rendition of Jonathan David and Melissa Helser's worship song "Abba" which some online reports say resulted in more than 10 people committing their lives to Christ.
Why do both Justin Bieber and Fantasia think they can use their concerts to win souls for Christ when their lives have not been changed by Christ? It's an easy mystery to solve when you understand the parable of the sower.

 What You Will Learn:

  • In this episode we will look at the third Parable which is the hypocrite and the lover of the world
  • We will look at the ones who fret and worry, who pursue Fortune, frivolity, and fairy tales.
  • Why you should encourage others to put Christ before everything else.
